Social proof is huge isn't it? Social proof is a way of confirming the validity of something, through other people's confirmations. In other words, if 10 friends I know tell me that you're a credible blogger, it will be easier for me to believe them than if they didn't say that and no one knew who you were.
I decided to pursue a local radio station in Pennsylvania, WDIY, to get an interview talking about my personal development blog. It took me a couple of months of emailing my information back and forth but eventually, I got the interview.
So, here I am with a half an hour to talk about my website and one of my passions, human potential. They gave me two opportunities to say the name of my website and sure enough, I used them. That radio interview was broadcasted nationwide in America so needless to say, a lot of people listened to it.
That night, around 100 people Googled my name. Big jump from about two a day and growing. I noticed massive activity on the blog I was talking about in the interview and later that week I heard from some people I know locally that said they heard me on the radio.
Credibility skyrocket. Not only did that social proof instantly raise my credibility with people that I knew and may have already been familiar with my work, but it still continues to work in my favor to this day. There are pictures on the internet, explanation text on the radio station's website, videos and more.
As a blogger, you can use social proof to gain exposure on the internet by activating your ingenuity. Talk to the local news stations about your blog. Send them an email about it. If they don't response, send them 8 more. Do what you can to let people know you're serious and use the power of social proof to gain and maintain an online and offline exposure.
